There has been talk about this for several days, however now it has been numbered. This storm is running down the east coast at the moment, only just scraping the coast. At the moment 1-4cm of snow is falling or starting to fall across the north at lower ground and at higher ground 5-10cm of snow. The central pressure is close to 996mb with the weather system meaning that there is the potential for blizzard conditions and poor visibility in the strongest of winds and the heaviest of showers. Away from the north over night it will quite widely away from the west coast give us a light dusting of snow, however during the day at lower ground the system will slowly turn form snow to rain, meaning that any lying snow is likely to turn slushy or just melt. Even in the south there is still the potential for blizzard conditions in the strong winds, which is likely to lead to reduced visibility. There will still still be the chance for some snow to creep back into the showers, but only during the heavier bursts. The winds will quite widely at times reach 50mph. After this system has clear there is the risk of ice forming on Saturday evening, especially black ice.
We will keep you updated if anything changes.
