We will be keeping a very close eye on things this weekend. We expect to see a lot of surface water flooding due to the ground being very dry and also large hail and damaging winds could bring down trees. We also can't rule out the risk of a tornado forming in the most vigorous of storms and also hail the size of golf balls or bigger is possible. Please only go outside in between storms and not during storms as there will also be some wind gusts over 70mph and also frequent lightning strikes.
We will post further updates if anything changes. As our high pressure system starts to sink further south and east, it will start to pull in the storms that it has been deflecting of into the Atlantic. This will also bring in cooler air than of recent times. This will also increase the flood possibility for the north of England upwards as the ground is already water logged. The south of England should just about stay dry, but the high pressure may slip away for a time allowing frontal systems through before returning. Rain fall totals will be high the further north you are in this period. Night time frosts however are equally as likely over the whole country.
We will update you if anything changes! Flood warnings are in place overnight in most of the south and south east of England as rivers levels near the banks. The environmental agency has said that the themes barrier will stay closed until further notice and many river can be expected to burst their banks as another storm nears!!!
