Since yesterday an area of low pressure that originally wasn't meant to strengthen has to 996mb and it is expected to stay that way until Wednesday.evening. it is expected to set its self up over central england today it will then drift slowly to the west before.on Wednesday being squashed by a blocking high to the east and an area of low pressure trundling in of the Atlantic. This should squeeze storm 3 up and towards Iceland.
The main problem with the system will be persistent rain and thunder storms developing the warm muggy air to the south of the system. Wind could locally be a problem in places. Flooding is.likely as well as wide spread surface water flooding. The outlook period could see storm 4 being named as the storm arriving on Thursday could take a track parallel to the coast of northern Ireland and then possibly coming inland over northern Scotland. The models could chnge, but at the moment it is likely to be stronger than the one at the moment . Update: The storms are now expected move through quicker storm 3 should have cleared by Tuesday evening, with the area of low pressure coming in of the Atlantic not being named as it will be weaker than originally thought. The atlantic low pressure system will move through throughout the day on Wednesday and will eventually clear off to the north east by Thursday. Between now and Thursday morning there is a lot of rain in the forecast with flood still expected to be an issue especially in the south and west of the UK.

Storm 2 has been named. it is expected to track along the coast of Ireland and Northern Ireland Today possibly making landfall, before tracking up to the Northern most Islands of Scotland Making land fall there before being whipped over to Iceland by the jet stream.
The pressure at the moment is 984mb and is expected to be 996mb at the time of land fall in Scotland. Today and tomorrow wind will be an issue in the north of Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. Winds could guest to 65+mph. Else where it will be noticeably breezy. Rain Will be heaviest the further north you are with surface water flooding likely here. We aren't expecting to much in the way of rain in the south, however the odd shower cannot be ruled out on Tuesday. We will keep you updated as we get the information. |
