The remnants of ex-hurricane Gonzalo will make their way across the UK over the next 24 hours bringing wet and windy conditions. For the impacts expect nothing much is expected in the way of rain although surface water flooding cannot be ruled out locally. Wind will be the main issue.....so for warnings associated with that look at the weather alerts page. As soon as this storm comes through high pressure is expected to build in and so storm development is unlikely at this time.

Storm 1 has now been down graded to post storm 1. In it's wake it has left behind strong winds and blustery showers.
A recap of storm 1 It was named on the 6th October and has lasted until the 9th. It brought flooding rain to the whole of the country and strong winds. There were 6 tornado reports from the south west and Wales. There were no reported deaths or injury's. This looks to be the last of the main storms as a few outerbands of low pressures will hit in the next few weeks. As you may have already noticed that it is having an affect on the British weather at the moment as its out rain bands along with some quite gusty winds are affecting most parts of the UK. The centre of this system isn't expected to make landfall until Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The centre is expected to travel from the south west of England to the north west and as it does so gradually weakening. The pressure at the moment is 720 millibars. With estimated winds at around 100mph in the centre. The good news is by the time it hits us the pressure will have risen and the winds will have dropped to around 60mph. Please check the warnings for how this storm could affect you.
On Wednesday evening there looks to be quite a strong area of low pressure that will take direct aim on central England. We will keep an eye on this as this may be our first named storm of the season.
