YELLOW WARNING of ICE for central southern England.
The public should be aware that icy patches are expected on paved surfaces on Friday night and Saturday morning. Valid 2300 tonight until 0800 Saturday 1st March. There are severe flood warnings in force in the following region:

Showers this afternoon have left the roads wet in many parts of Northern Ireland, as well as southern and western parts of Scotland. As skies clear tonight there is the risk of ice forming, especially on untreated surfaces. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport due to the slippery roads. Valid from 2100 Thursday until 0900 Friday. YELLOW WARNING of WIND West or northwesteraly winds are expected to increase across the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall soon after midnight, with severe gales developing in the early hours of Friday. Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected. Winds should begin to ease later in the morning. The public should be aware of the possibility of some minor disruption to transport. Valid on Friday from 0100 until 1000. YELLOW WARNING of SNOW Rain will turn to snow for a time over parts of southeast Wales, southern parts of the West Mildands, and the West Country, mainly over the high ground during Friday morning. Over low ground it is unlikely that any snow will accumulate but some areas may see falling snow and slushy deposits for a time. The public are advised to be aware of the potential for some disruption to travel especially during the Friday morning rush hour. Valid on Friday from 0200 until 1500. An area of rain will become slow moving across Fermanagh, Tyrone and the west of Derry from Saturday afternoon through until Sunday morning. Totals of 5-10mm are expected widely, with more than 25mm locally. This rain will also be accompanied by strong winds, with gusts to around 50 mph locally. Given the saturated conditions, the public should be aware of the potential for localised flooding. Valid from 1100 Saturday until 1200 Sunday. YELLOW WARNING of RAIN An area of rain will become slow moving across Argyll, Tayside and Central Scotland from Saturday afternoon through until Sunday afternoon. Totals of around 30 to 40mm are expected widely across the area, with 60mm possible over higher ground. Milder conditions will also some snow melt on the high ground. It will also be windy on Saturday afternoon with southerly gales along the west coast. The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding, as well as surface water on many roads. Valid from 1500 Saturday until 1500 Sunday. YELLOW WARNING of RAIN Persistent rain will turn heavy at times through Sunday and into Monday morning across southwest Scotland, Cumbria and northwest Wales. Large totals will build up, particularly over hills. More than 80mm are expected over some hill tops, with 30 to 40mm more widely. Additionally, winds will be strong and from the south, with gusts of 60 mph or so over coasts and hills, perhaps locally around 70 mph. The public should be aware of the risk of flooding. Valid from 0015 Sunday until 0600 Monday. |
