Updated 26 December at 14:43 Valid from 1700 on Fri 26 December to 1000 on Sat 27 December Following Friday afternoon's rain, sleet and snow, falling temperatures across Northern Ireland will allow ice to form on untreated surfaces. Showers arriving during Friday night, with snow on hills, will allow temperatures to rise somewhat, though they will locally dip again at times, prolonging the risk of localised icy patches into Saturday morning. The public should be aware of this wintry hazard. YELLOW WARNING OF ICE for parts of east Wales, northern, central and eastern England Updated 27 December at 03:30 Valid from 0535 on Sat 27 December to 1000 on Sat 27 December Following the overnight rain, sleet and snow, clearing skies will allow road surfaces to fall below freezing this morning across parts of central and northern England and Wales. This will lead to icy stretches on untreated surfaces, particularly where wet snow cover re-freezes. The public should be aware that this could cause disruption to travel. YELLOW WARNING OF SNOW AND ICE for much of Scotland Updated 26 December at 10:18 Valid from 2200 on Fri 26 December to 1200 on Sat 27 December Temperatures fell quickly across Scotland Friday evening, before a band of locally heavy, wintry showers spread into the northwest late evening. Showers will fall as snow on hills and higher routes and to lower levels inland. The band will move southeast Friday night, with showers becoming more scattered and not reaching the Central Belt and east of the country until late in the night. Showers will be mainly a mix of rain and snow over lower levels across the south on Saturday morning, before clearing, leaving only scattered wintry showers around coasts.
