N Ireland and Scotland Issued 10:04 on Sun 29 Nov 2015 Valid from 10:10 on Sun 29 Nov to 18:00 on Sun 29 Nov 2015 Severe west to southwesterly gales are expected to affect England, Wales, Northern Ireland and parts of southern Scotland on Sunday. Inland gusts of 50-60 mph could occur, especially in the west and over northern England. Gusts around western coasts could reach 70 mph, this most likely around coasts of north Wales, northwest England and Dumfries and Galloway. The public should be aware of the potential for disruption due to the gales and severe gales. YELLOW WARNING OF SNOW for Scotland Issued at 10:41 on Sun 29 Nov Valid from 10:45 on Sun 29 Nov to 10:00 on Mon 30 Nov Outbreaks of rain are now beginning to turn to snow in areas north of the Central Belt, the snow becoming heavy in places and locally persisting into Sunday afternoon, more especially in the north. This may bring a few cm of snow even to low levels, while 10-15 cm could accumulate over some high ground areas. Following the clearance of the more general wintry precipitation, further clusters of heavy wintry showers will come in from the west, even extending to parts of southern Scotland on Sunday evening and at first on Sunday night, leading to further accumulating snow in places (especially the west Highlands). This will also bring an enhanced risk of ice into Monday morning. Please be aware of the need to take extra care and allow more time for travel. Note that the southern limit of the more widespread snow during Sunday late morning and early afternoon remains uncertain. YELLOW WARNING OF RAIN for parts of Northern England Issued at 11:34 on Sun 29 Nov Valid 0900 on Mon 30 Nov to 2345 Tue 1 Dec Rain is expected to move across northern England from early on Monday, with the largest rainfall totals over high ground. This should clear southwards later on Monday before returning from the south on Tuesday. With this rainfall following the wet November, the ground is saturated and rivers are expected to rise in response. This is an update to remove Cumbria from the warning area, because it is now expected to receive lesser amounts of rain, and as a result, lower impacts. Please be aware of the potential for localised disruption from flooding, even away from the heaviest rainfall as the water moves through the river network. There are currently 12 Flood warnings:
