YELLOW WARNING of RAIN
Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to break out across southern parts of England early on Tuesday afternoon and die out on Tuesday evening. The public should therefore be aware of the risk of localised flooding. In particular surface water could lead to difficult driving conditions at times. Hail and lightning are likely to provide an additional hazard locally. Valid onTuesday from 1245 until 2000. YELLOW WARNING of RAIN
Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across parts of Devon and Cornwall during Monday afternoon. Southern parts of the peninsula will be favoured as sea breezes meet the prevailing northerly wind, producing some slow-moving thunderstorms here. These may produce 10 to 15 mm in an hour, and perhaps very locally 30 mm in three hours. However, many places will miss the worst of the showers. The showers and thunderstorms will slowly die out through Monday evening. The public should be aware of the potential for some minor disruption due to surface water flooding. Valid on Monday from 1300 until 2000. Yellow Warning for Southern England
There is a band of showers coming into Southern England this evening due to another area of low pressure coming in from the Southeast. This will make it's way slowly westwards and then briefly going into southwest England. In the early hours of tomorrow morning the system will be pushed back the way it came, but taking a track further north meaning that rain will fall pretty much anywhere except Scotland. Southern England will see the worst of the rain. The wind will also be gusting to 50mph+ on exposed coastlines. The public should be aware of the chance of some surface water flooding as this rain is falling on saturated ground. Valid Monday 1900-1100 Tuesday. |
