Scattered heavy and locally thundery downpours are likely to develop across parts of southern England, the south Midlands and southeast Wales this afternoon, only slowly easing this evening. Scattered locally heavy showers, with the risk of some slow-moving thundery downpours, are likely this afternoon into this evening. Although the heavy showers should slowly die out this evening they may well continue in parts of southwest England into Thursday night. The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding. This warning has been updated to remove the warning from southeastern areas where showers are less likely to have any impacts. Valid from 1115 until 2355 on Thursday. YELLOW WARNING of RAIN for EASTERN SCOTLAND Rain will become persistent and heavy at times this afternoon and evening, easing on Thursday night. Tomorrow morning in the countryside temperatures will dip below freezing for a time leading to a patchy frost. In towns and cities the temperatures should stay well above freezing, but anywhere else temperatures will be somewhere between 0-4 degrees. But only briefly as when the sun comes up temperatures will start to climb and may reach 20 degrees. Whilst we are waiting for the last few storms to make their way out to sea we have had to issue an Amber Weather Warning. Please do take extra care when driving through these storms as they will have the potential for strong winds and hail. They are also likely to be thundery.
