YELLOW WARNING of RAIN for Wales and southwest England
Issued at: 10:40 on Sun 20 Nov Valid from: 03:00 on Mon 21 Nov Valid to: 23:55 on Mon 21 Nov On Monday a further broad area of heavy, persistent rain will extend northwards across southwest England and Wales. The heaviest rain is expected to reach southwest England in the early hours of Monday and to reach north Wales by around the middle of the day. Although the more persistent rain should clear from southwest England into the afternoon, heavy and possibly thundery showers are likely to follow. Strong northeasterly winds will also develop for a time giving gusts of 40-50 mph. Please be aware of the possibility of localised flooding and disruption to transport. AMBER WARNING of RAIN for Devon and Somerset Updated at: 04:00 on Mon 21 Nov Valid from: 05:00 on Mon 21 Nov Valid to: 23:55 on Mon 21 Nov On Monday a further broad area of heavy, persistent rain will move northwards across southwest England. Although the more persistent rain should clear from Devon by early afternoon, heavy and possibly thundery showers are likely to follow. Please be prepared for further disruption to transport due to localised flooding, whilst flooding of homes and businesses is also possible. This warning has been updated to extend the warning area into Somerset. YELLOW WARNING of RAIN for northeast England Issued at: 11:11 on Sun 20 Nov Valid from: 12:00 on Mon 21 Nov Valid to: 06:00 on Tue 22 Nov A broad area of heavy, persistent rain will move northwards, reaching the extreme northeast of England later on Monday. The rain should turn more showery across the south of the warning area by Monday evening with the more persistent rain probably becoming confined to Northumberland and Durham by the start of Tuesday. Strong northeasterly winds will also develop across the north of the area giving gusts of 40-50 mph. Please be aware of the possibility of localised flooding and disruption to transport. YELLOW WARNING of WIND for parts of northern England and southern Scotland Issued at: 10:28 on Mon 21 Nov Valid from: 21:00 on Mon 21 Nov Valid to: 06:00 on Tue 22 Nov Northeasterly winds will strengthen on Monday evening. Gusts of 50 to 60 mph are likely in places overnight, perhaps 70 mph over hill tops and very locally to the southwest of hills. This will be combined with persistent and often heavy rain across the Lothians and Borders. Whilst these sorts of wind speeds are not usual, the direction is less common, so be aware of the potential for some minor disruption to transport and difficult driving conditions. Winds then steadily moderating on Tuesday. YELLOW WARNING of WIND for coastal south-eastern counties of England Issued at: 09:46 on Mon 21 Nov Valid from: 01:00 on Tue 22 Nov Valid to: 09:00 on Tue 22 Nov Southwesterly winds will increase on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, bringing gusts of 50 to 60 mph on coasts, with a low risk of 70-80 mph. Inland, gust speeds are likely to be 10 mph or so lower. Please be aware of the risk of damage to trees and disruption to transport, and of large waves coming onto sea fronts.
